Classic Homemade Bolognese Sauce is a rich, hearty meat sauce made with ground beef, fresh vegetables, herbs, and beef broth, then slow-simmered for incredible flavour. Perfect served over your favourite pasta with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups Ground beef
- 1 cup diced onions
- ½ cup shredded Carrots
- ½ cup diced Celery (optional)
- 2 cups Beef stalk
- 4 sprigs of fresh Thyme
- 4 cloves minced Garlic
- Salt & Pepper
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 2 bay leaf (remove before eating)
- Olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of tomato paste (optional)
- Parmesan cheese
- Parsley fresh chopped
PREPARATION
This will all be made in the same large frying pan and takes about 40 minutes to cook, worth it.
Prepare your ingredients shred the carrots on a cheese grater, dice the onions fine with the celery and garlic sauté in a large pan in olive oil with thyme, salt and pepper.
TIP: Use olive oil and cook the carrots first until a little golden color – this is flavor) add celery cook for 2 minutes then add seasoning, onions and garlic cook for 10 minutes until onions soft.
Push the cooked ingredients off to the side of the pan and ADD ground beef and cook thoroughly on medium heat then mix the rest in) Once all ingredients are well mixed cook on medium heat add beef stalk, bay leaf, Worcestershire (add tomato paste here if you are using it) and simmer for 20 minutes until liquid reduces by half.
Remove the bay leaves and serve with your favorite pasta and top with grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
