For over five years, we’ve been inviting friends to join us online every Sunday morning live from our home kitchen to explore the tastes, stories, and rhythms of Atlantic Canada and beyond.

Join Michelle, her mom Helen, and friends in the backyard as they fire up the grill for Week 261 of AC Cooks LIVE from her backyard. Just back from a flavour-filled journey to Morocco, Michelle is bringing the heat with traditional Moroccan kefta, zesty salads, and juicy chicken skewers—all made with fresh, in-season Canadian ingredients.

Sweet Potato Bake 

Michelle Alcorn has shared her amazing Sweet Potato Bake recipe! With the perfect blend of sweet and savory, it’s sure to be a favorite.

RECIPE

  • 2 cups sweet potatoes (cubed)

  • 1 cup onions (chopped)

  • 1 cup walnuts

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 3 sprigs fresh thyme

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • Optional: 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • Salt & pepper

STEPS

1. Mix all ingredients (except maple syrup) in a bowl.
2. Transfer to an 8×8 baking pan.
3. Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes.
4. Drizzle maple syrup 20 minutes into baking. Finish baking until sweet potatoes are tender.

Stout Onions

RECIPE

  • 2 cups raw onions chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • Salt & pepper
  • 1 cup stout beer
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil

STEPS

Hot pan add olive oil, onions, garlic, herbs and cook for 15 minutes until soft and add the stout and cook for 10-15 more minutes.

Enjoy with steak, Option to add cooked mushrooms at the end and stir together.

Maple Mustard Marinade

RECIPE :  (Amount for 4- 6 pieces of chicken)

  • 1/4 cup whole-grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup New Brunswick maple syrup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Pinch of sea salt & pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

STEPS

In a small bowl, whisk together the mustard, maple syrup, garlic powder, sea salt, pepper and soy sauce. Coat your choice of protein with the marinade, ensuring even coverage. Let it sit for at least 45 minutes before cooking. Enjoy
